ANALYSIS ON THE AGRICULTURE MARKETING IN PAKISTAN

2.1 INTRODUCTION:

My aim is to research in the development of Pakistan’s agricultural marketing system, especially within the framework of five-year plans. During this research, the agricultural marketing system has experienced significant developments, difficulties, and shortcomings that are mentioned in detail in my research.

After getting independence, the Government of Pakistan had prioritized food production, while distribution and marketing were typically given less attention. As a result, agricultural marketing advanced at a slower rate. first five-year plan (1955-60) found numerous flaws in the agriculture marketing system. The main elements influencing the growth of the nation’s agricultural marketing system included inefficiencies in buying, selling, assembling, processing, transporting farm products, and utilizing market resources.

 

Some policy initiatives (appropriate implementation of ratings and criteria for agricultural goods, awarding of agricultural loans by the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) of Pakistan to farmers for the purchase of fertilizers, High Yielding a Variety of Seeds, farming equipment, and pesticides; preparation of stakeholders in the grant of subsidization for the build of cold storages in production areas, etc.) were undertaken to guarantee fair prices to the stakeholders and improve the effectiveness of the Pakistan agricultural marketing system.
